In this piece, I wanted to explore the challenge of rendering a quick and painterly drawing with the slower and very controlled method of hand embroidery. The dissonance between the speed of the two approaches and the process of translation from one to the other, provided an opportunity to reflect more deeply on the choices I was making with the materials and ideas the marks and the crab conjured for me.
